A few months ago, I talked to ta few customizers about starting to do some customization. My husband bought me a rehairing tool as an easter gift in lieu of chocolate and candy (can't have that stuff, i have a problem with my teeth) and he and I did the rehairing the other night. He did most of it, to be honest, he's more precise. I just helped figure out where the hair had to go, made the plugs for him and I cut the hair how I wanted it when it was done, which was a total disaster.

The second pony I'm working on is screwball, and I did much more on that one, but she's not quite done yet. She's still very bald. :P

Anyway, this was made out of a sweetie belle base using hair from dollyhair.com. I think the colors were sea nymph and sugarberry, but don't quote me on that.

By the way, the other Gusty in the picture was done by the talented Hannaliten. I would never assume credit for her awesomeness. :)

I'm waiting for my dollyhair order and I'm planning on making quite a few customs. Please tell me, is it horribly difficult?

It's not difficult with the rehairing tool. I'm pretty terrible at crafts, and I had absolutely no problem with it. The hardest part is working with the G4 babies because they are TINY. I don't think I'll ever work with one of the babies ever again. The bigger ones like pinkie pie or applejack aren't that bad though. There are a few vids on youtube for rehairing a G4, have a look at those. Those helped immensely.

Ok, but I have a question. How do you get the needle out after pushing the loop through the head? Won't it get stuck in the loop, or do you have to hold both ends of the loop in the needle as apposed to having the needle in the thread?

I've actually never used the needle and thread method, only the rehairing tool method.

You did a great job with the model! Gusty looks so good as a G4, sure they could bring her back...

I would love if they brought her back, although I'll bet they won't get the same voice actress (Nancy Cartwright) ... she's a bit too famous now. :P

True, the Simpsons cats pulls in several millions of dollars per episode for voice work, so I don't think she's within the budget. But surely, they could have an older Gusty whose voice is a little maturer? I've been wondering what it would be like if they had the original Midnight Castle team as heroes of Equestria's past... maybe Firefly as an ancestor of Rainbow Dash...

I'd watch that. :)

I can't see the red very clearly, but the green definitely looks like Sea Nymph to me. She looks great! Gusty has always been one of my faves.

Are you gonna paint the irises too? :)
